Campagnolo will release their top three groupsets with 11 speed rear cogs. Shimano has previously dabbled with 14 speed cogs and it is unlikely that Shimano and also SRAM will remain with 10 speed once the Campag 11 speed sets come out.

Shimano and Campagnolo are also testing electronic gear change componentry with Shimano reportedly having wireless models in test. These units won’t speed up change times but have the aim of lighter weight and cleaner appearance.
