Taipei Cycle Show Feedback

Attendees at the Taipei International Cycle Show last month were given the clear message by their suppliers that costs would continue to rise in the near future.

Shortages and price increases in raw materials such as steel, butyl and rubber will lead to longer lead times and increased prices for bicycles and components. Exchange rate changes, rising labour costs for manufacturers in Asia, and the impact of increasing oil prices on local and sea freight  will also play their part.

Some suppliers have warned that they will not hold quoted prices beyond three months. Others will quote prices per order only.

Passing on these costs to consumers will result in further challenges for bicycle wholesalers and retailers.
