Earlier this year the BIA Board made the decision to no longer
promote a bicycle show or partner with a third party organizer in the
running of a show. Essentially the BIA did not wish to receive any
financial benefit from or own the rights to a bicycle show.
BIA does, however, encourage companies to consider running a
bicycle show as we believe with the right model a show could be a
success. We
would be happy with this outcome without an involvement in the
management or ownership of the show as the end result
will be more people cycling.
Exhibitions and Trade Fairs Pty Ltd had decided to run a revamped Bicycle Show in Sydney
during October this year. However they have now decided to postpone it until 2008. In part their release reads as follows:
“The organiser of the Bicycle
Show, Sydney 2007 Exhibitions and Trade Fairs (ETF) has made the strategic
decision to postpone the scheduled Bicycle Show in October 2007, until 2008.
“We made this decision to
postpone the Bicycle Show under the advice and feedback from the industry”,
said Rodney Cox, Director of Exhibitions at ETF. “While we have had great
support for the Bicycle Show from the key industry players they also advised
that there were logistical and budget restraints affecting their participation
this year. Postponing the Bicycle Show until 2008 will provide a time
frame that allows for maximum industry support.”
ETF apologises for any
inconvenience this postponement may have caused, however, we view it more
important to delay the show one year and deliver a major industry event that
has the full support of the industry, rather than a rushed event that is not a
true show case for visitors or profitable to our exhibitors.”
As more information comes to
hand we will keep members posted.
