Bicycle Sales
Australian bicycle sales have soared to record numbers in recent years. Figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics show that Australians purchased 1.2 million bicycles in 2008. This is the ninth consecutive year in which Australians have bought more bicycles than cars. The trend of soaring bicycle sales is a global phenomenon.
In 2005 BIA commissioned a pilot project to
collect statistics on the sale of bikes in Australia.
