- BIA members benefit from having a strong, united voice. They are heard by governments at all levels.
- BIA
represents the wholesale sector on the Australian Bicycle Council. The
ABC is an intergovernment committee with members from all states and
territories, the commonwealth government and local government as well
as advocacy groups and industry.
- BIA and the Cycling Promotion Fund have close contact with the Health and Transport ministries in all states as well as the Commonwealth.
- BIA represents the industry on Standards Australia committees which oversee the standards applicable to bikes and accessories.
- On behalf of its members BIA established the Cycling
Promotion Fund to support the work of advocates for cycling all round
Australia. The CPF has been a great success in raising the standard and
profile of consumer advocacy. The CPF has also been successful in
lobbying at the Federal level, establishing good communications with
Commonwealth Ministers for Transport, Health, the Environment and
Ageing.
- BIA collects statistics on the
Australian Bicycle Industry which enable participating companies to
better understand the scope, structure and state of the market.
